Job Brief:
As a Marine Technician specializing in automation, control systems, and fault-finding, you will be responsible for manufacturing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex marine equipment and systems. This role requires a deep understanding of marine automation and control systems and the ability to diagnose and rectify technical issues efficiently. You will work closely with a team of engineers and technicians to ensure the optimal performance and safety of marine vessels and equipment.

Job Responsibilities:
  • System Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance on marine automation and control systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Fault-finding: Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in marine equipment, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to identify and resolve issues.
  • Repair and Replacement: Conducted repairs and replaced defective components in control systems and automation equipment, ensuring all work was completed to the highest standards.
  • System Upgrades: Assist in installing and commissioning new automation and control systems, ensuring seamless integration with existing equipment.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and system upgrades, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • Compliance: Ensure all work complies with relevant industry standards and regulations, prioritizing safety and environmental considerations.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support and guidance to other team members, sharing knowledge and expertise to foster a collaborative working environment.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest advancements in marine automation and control technologies and propose improvements to enhance system performance and reliability.

Job Requirements:
  • Education: Diploma or degree in Marine Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in marine automation, control systems, and fault-finding.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software for fault-finding and system analysis. Capable of reading and understanding electrical schematics. Strong understanding of PLCs, SCADA systems, and marine control systems.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in marine engineering and automation are highly desirable.
  • Problem-solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical peers, customers, or contractors.
  • Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, with a proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving.

Working Conditions:
  • Environment: This position involves working in both indoor and outdoor environments, including onboard vessels and the VDR facilities.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and work in confined spaces or at heights as required.
  • Travel: Occasional travel may be required to support offsite projects or emergency repairs.
