Job Brief:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in steel fabrication, with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and proficiently use 3D CAD software, such as SolidWorks. This role is pivotal in accurately estimating project costs and contributing to the successful execution of fabrication projects.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Review and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications to determine project requirements.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for steel fabrication projects, including material, labor, and production costs.
  • Utilize 3D CAD software (SolidWorks or similar) to support estimation and provide technical insights during the bidding process.
  • Collaborate with production teams to assess welding requirements and manufacturing capabilities for each project.
  • Evaluate and recommend cost-effective solutions without compromising on quality or specifications.
  • Liaise with suppliers and vendors to obtain competitive pricing for materials and subcontracted services.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the sales and project management teams.
  • Maintain detailed records of estimates, including project scope, assumptions, and risk factors.
  • Assist in developing proposals, bids, and project timelines.
Job Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in steel fabrication, with a strong understanding of production processes and welding techniques.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Advanced skills in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Background in production or hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects within tight deadlines.
